Easy Steps to Becoming a Karaoke Master

by Rex Freiberger

Chances are you'll be invited to a karaoke party at least once in your life. If you can't sing, don't worry. Karaoke music isn't about the singing; it's about making a fool of yourself and having a good time. When choosing karaoke songs don't try to be cool, instead try to pick something that people will know and enjoy.

When choosing a song, look for karaoke music online that you can practice to. Try the Beatles, ABBA, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Jones. There is a lot of free karaoke music that you can sing along to from your computer.

Your friends may already have their favorite karaoke venue. Hopefully they have chosen a place where people are nice, supportive, and more likely to applaud than wince. Most places will have a wide selection of music and won't care whether you're singing Christian karaoke music or Slayer, as long as you get up on stage and do your best.

Many people prefer to sing karaoke in the privacy of their own home. They may invest in karaoke machines. Many of these machines are portable enough to take with you on vacation, to a friend's house, or even to church. Other people, especially those who only sing once and a while, use karaoke software and karaoke downloads.

Whatever you do, don't show your fear. It's okay if you sound horrible, as long as you ham it up and have fun. If you act mortified, the audience will pick up on this and they will feel mortified.

Our last piece of advice? If you're worried or afraid, don't do it alone. Grab a friend and sing together, there are plenty of fantastic songs to sing with others. If all else fails there is plenty of Hindi karaoke music! And if you do the choreographed Bollywood dance moves, no one will notice if you're tone deaf.
